Todd Hansen drives business results by enhancing and protecting reputations and building brands. His expertise includes corporate reputation and social responsibility, marketing communications, employee engagement, social media, issues management and executive communications. Todd has provided counsel to a number of well-recognized companies including HanesBrands, Tyson, Monsanto, Barclaycard, PepsiCo, McDonald’s, AT&T and Deere & Company as well as served as a business advisor to dozens of businesses in multiple industries.
A seasoned crisis communications counselor, he has developed and executed communications programs to address public safety and corporate reputation crises, including product recalls, regulatory investigations and facility disasters. He provided counsel to United Airlines on and after September 11; led an agency team in support of retail center and consumer communications for Bridgestone/Firestone during a well-publicized American recall; and played a key in-house role for Sara Lee Corporation during one of the largest food recalls in American history in addition to managing communications for a number of facility, litigation, financial, product and marketing situations.
Todd often works on location during a crisis, providing the communications perspective to the overall strategic planning and serving as a company spokesperson to media, customers and other external audiences.
He has also led numerous issues management programs to address issues related to environmental, litigation or community concerns.
Todd previously served as corporate practice group director in the Chicago office of Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide and as senior vice president at FleishmanHillard/Chicago. He is a frequent guest lecturer at academic institutions including the University of Chicago and Northwestern University and has spoken at a number of professional forums. He is on the Board and serves as treasurer for the PR Council, a American affiliation of public relations agencies.
